Lake's up!

Well since all the rain we've gotten this year, the lake is up to above normal. That's good to see. I've gotta take time to do some fishing... Tis is part of our cove and what once was a fishing pier. Hey, this property hasn't been kept up for the last 15 or so years! It'll take time and money to rebuild everything.

My "Spare" Time

So, Ive been ripping out the carpet and the old vinyl tile from under that to install ceramic tile. Plan to do the whole house. (eventually) It's slow going because of having to move furniture back and forth. Of course, trying to keep the family and the 5 dogs off it while it sets, is tough too.

And, when I'm not doing this, I'm on my computer. I setup 2 webpages. One for my BBS, and one for a general "access" to everything at http://jupe.no-ip.com:8080

Normal Tides

This is normal tides for us. Picture was taken on my way home. At least twice a year the tides are high enough to cover the road. I don't live far from here. Maybe a couple of blocks. Now you know why I want to leave when a hurricane is to make landfall here.

Ahhh, springtime!

My daughter and I got to spend some time at the lake during last week's Spring Break. I love this time of the year. Not cold, not too hot yet. It was great. The wildflowers are all in bloom and everywhere you look new life is beginning.

Christmas Holidays Campout

Sarah and I went to spend a few days at the lake after Christmas. My son, Joseph, his wife Shelley and my two grandkids, Julien and Hailey spent an afternoon with us. We had a great time, even if we didn't catch any fish. Weather was beautiful.

The "After Thanksgiving" Campout!

I plan to go to the lake on Friday after Thanksgiving Day and spend the weekend, fishing, cooking and drinking beer. My son Jason (See Highspeed Heartaches Post)http://jupiter1949.blogspot.com/2006/10/highspeed-heartaches.html and his girlfriend, Christine will be going too. My wife, Kathleen has to work Friday, but will join us on Saturday. The weather report looks great! I can hardly wait.
I'll have to post some pics after we get back home!

A Place for Dogs

We put up a fence and gate to house the dogs. So next time I won't have to tie them out, just let them run in the pen.

Cleanup in progress

We've spent last Saturday and this Sunday cleaning, mowing and cutting trees at the lake lots. Now that the weather has cooled down, we can start camping and fishing again. Maybe Thanksgiving weekend and after Christmas. It'll be nice to get away. We took some fencing up today to make a dog run for our 5 dogs. One day, we'll build a house there, with a back patio that looks out over the water.

Rain brings Weeds!

The recent rains we've had after a very long period of dry weather has really gotten things growing. Time to mow and keep the lots under control. Hard to believe a month ago this was all dirt.

What's left of the Lake

We took a trip to the lots at the lake on Monday. Not much water left... Kinda made me sick. I guess we need a tropical system to dump a few feet of water. This would be an ideal time to work on the pier, if I wasn't broke.. Oh well.

Getting back to normal(?)

Rebuilt my computer and upgraded my daughters after the lightning damage. I bought a big new case, motherboard, processor and video card for mine, and a motherboard, processor, ram for my daughter. Both computers are running very well! Sorry I haven't posted anything in a while, but now maybe I can get back to it.

Lots happening

Went on a short vacation 2 weeks ago and when I returned I discovered a tree had been hit by lightning. A light fixture on the patio was burnt off the house, the cable was out and no phone service... I called the cable comppany and they came out 4 days later repaired all the cable, but I found I had lost a computer, an ac adapter on a laptop, and one tv.
The phone company was called TWICE and never did anything about my problem so I rewired the damn box myself! After the phones started working again, the first call I made was to the phone company to complain. I told them the repairman should be fired and that I did NOT expect to be charged for the week I was without service! The promised me I wouldn't and asked if there was anything else they could do!!! I said, "God no!" and hung up!
Hmmm, remember when customer satisfaction was priority one???

'nother dog

We have 5 dogs now, since one showed up in our garage Friday morning. She looks like a 5 month old German Shepard. Very friendly, but had not been given proper care. So now we have a chow, two Jack Russell Terriers, a Corgie, and this shepard.

First Brisket of the Season

With about 1 hour to go (total 12 hours) this slab of beef is nearly ready!
Smoked at 250 degrees with the fat side up.
And, it was fantastic!
